PM provides a type indicator to allow the further specification of font most appropriate to your application. The type indicators found in the FATTR data structure are not interchangeable with the type indicators in the FONTMETRICS data structure.

The most commonly used type indicator, FATTR_TYPE_KERNING, causes kerning to take effect for those fonts that contain kerning-pair information. FATTR_TYPE_KERNING is supported only for PostScript** devices.

There are three other type indicators provided:

An anti-aliased font is required
FATTR_TYPE_MBCS
A mixed single- or double-byte code page is required
FATTR_TYPE_DBCS
A double-byte code page is required.
