To start ALIAS32 from a command line, type:

alias32 aliasname resourcename

or

alias32 aliasname servername resourcename

where:

aliasname

Is an 8-byte name that is not currently in use.
servername
Specifies the server that the alias resource resides on. If not specified, it is assumed that the alias resource resides on the local machine.
resourcename
Is a fully qualified path name.

ALIAS32 checks that the device is shared and returns basic information on the device type.
