vnode
Virtual
i-node. An object in a file system that represents a file. Unlike an i-node,
there is no one-to-one correspondence between a vnode and the file system;
multiple vnodes can refer to a single file. A vnode is used to communicate
between the upper half of the file system and the file system representations.
